The best way I can describe the Croatian capital is a punk Prague. And as someone who loves Prague and loves punk, I mean that in the best possible way.
I absolutely loved Zagreb and wish I could have stayed longer; it’s definitely on my list of cities I need to revisit because I know there’s so much more to enjoy and discover.
Croatia is complex and fascinating. I saw a country that found a way to reinvent itself, to blossom after decades of violence. From genocide and fascism to the dissolution of Yugoslavia and finally its independence, Croatia’s recent history is filled with monumental challenges, but this country proves there is hope for life after war, and Zagreb is the epitome of this transformation.
