Laura is a writer, photographer, and traveller born in Medellín, Colombia, who has been exploring the world with a camera for decades. Since graduating from Creative Writing at Brisbane’s Queensland University of Technology, remote work has made it possible for her to keep losing herself in both planned and unexpected adventures while capturing the places she visits and the people she meets with love, curiosity, and the innate desire to adapt to each of her new surroundings as she continues on her journey.
She strongly believes that celebrating our differences will bring us closer together, that diversity is our greatest strength, and that understanding other cultures and points of view are the most effective ways to open people’s minds and hearts. And that storytelling, whether through photography or writing, is the greatest tool we have to share the mundane and extraordinary characteristics that connect humans from completely different backgrounds.
Her passion for different disciplines and storytelling tools have led her to participate in projects ranging from documentaries, short films, and journalistic reports, and she has also participated in photography exhibitions in Colombia and New York City. Her work has also been featured in magazines and websites.
She hopes to create a colourful catalogue of images and stories from all the places she’s visited as a testament to the natural and human beauty and diversity of our planet, and to have the opportunity to photograph more people and places in the years to come.
She’s currently working in Medellín, photographing locals and visitors who want to capture their time in the City of Eternal Spring through natural and dynamic portraits.
