My first visit to Catalonia, an autonomous region in northeastern Spain, was in September 2021. I took the train from Madrid and arrived just in time to enjoy tapas and beer before sunset. I was in and around Barcelona for only a few days and was able to visit the town of Sitges & the beach at Castelldefels when I wasn’t marvelling at Gaudís’s genius and getting lost in the labyrinthine alleys of the Gothic Quarter and El Born.
