From genocide and fascism to the dissolution of Yugoslavia and finally its independence, Croatia's recent history is filled with monumental challenges, but this country proves there is hope for life after war, and Zagreb is the epitome of this transformation.
Visiting Lake Bled in autumn was an actual dream come true. I have no doubt it's beautiful year-round, but seeing the lake through the thick fog, the surrounding forest painted in reds and golds, made it surreal in the best, most fairytale way imaginable.
