A dream come true, many steps forward in the right direction, over 500 km travelled south-west along Colombia’s Caribbean coast, here is the first set of photographs from Get Off the Trail’s first official Caribbean Trail, documenting our travels from Santa Marta to Arboletes.

Un sueño hecho realidad, muchos pasos en la dirección correcta, más de 500 km de recorrido en sentido sur-occidente por la costa Caribe colombiana, aquí están las primeras fotografías del primer viaje oficial de Get Off the Trail, documentando nuestro trayecto desde Santa Marta hasta Arboletes.

The second part of Get Off the Trail’s Caribbean journey takes us over 170 km South-West, down Colombia’s Caribbean coast and across the Gulf of Uraba, as we head toward the border with Panama and the small town of Sapzurro in Choco department (state). Sapzurro is a tropical paradise where we enjoyed a week of hikes, waterfalls and snorkelling.

La segunda parte del viaje por el Caribe de Get Off the Trail nos lleva 170 km más hacia el Suroccidente por la costa Caribe colombiana, hasta llegar a la frontera con Panamá y el pequeño pueblo de Sapzurro en el departamento del Chocó. Sapzurro es un paraíso tropical donde disfrutamos una semana de caminatas, cascadas y caretear.

The third and last set of photographs documenting Get Off the Trail’s first official Caribbean Trail starts in Necoclí, a dusty little town south of Arboletes, in the Gulf of Uraba, on Antioquia’s Caribbean coast. We then headed towards Turbo, a port of polluted, black waters that hides the promise of what’s next: a tropical paradise. Once you take a boat out of Turbo and head North across the Gulf towards the municipality of Acandi, the ocean starts changing colour, from a deep, dark blue to the turquoise, crystal-clear waters of Sapzurro. There are plenty of places to visit in and around Sapzurro, like Capurganá, Cabo Tiburón (Shark Point), the amazing Diana Waterfall, just ten minutes away from the beach, and La Miel, Sapzurro’s sister town across the Panamanian border.

La tercera y última parte del primer viaje oficial de Get Off the Trail por el Caribe comienza en Necoclí, un pequeño pueblo polvoriento en el Golfo de Urabá y la costa Caribe antioqueña, al sur de Arboletes. De allí salimos hacia Turbo, un puerto de aguas negras y contaminadas que esconde la promesa de lo que viene: un paraíso tropical. Pero ya en la panga (lancha con motor) y atravesando el Golfo hacia el Norte y el municipio de Acandí, se ve cambiar el color del agua, de un azul oscuro y profundo a las aguas turquesas y cristalinas de Sapzurro. Hay muchos lugares para visitar en y alrededor de Sapzurro, como Capurganá, Cabo Tiburón, la espectacular Cascada la Diana, a sólo diez minutos de la playa y La Miel, el pueblo hermano de Sapzurro en Panamá.
