I went on a birdwatching roadtrip with my Dad, travelling south from Medellín to the Coffee Region of the Colombian Andes.

We climbed the Polish Corridor in Manizales’ old cathedral and walked up and down the steep streets of the city.
Subimos al Corredor Polaco en la vieja catedral de Manizales y caminamos por las empinadas calles de la ciudad.
We ate the local food and squinted at the blinding white clouds that covered our view of the snowy peaks of the Ruiz and Santa Isabel volcanoes.
Probamos la comida y entrecerramos los ojos ante el brillante cielo blanco que nublaba la vista de los nevados del Ruíz y Santa Isabel.
We visited Hotel Tinamú, near Manizales, to photograph dozens of bird species that visit the grounds.
Visitamos el Hotel Tinamú, cerca a Manizales, a fotografiar docenas de especies de aves que visitan el propiedad.
Nearby, El Recinto del Pensamiento (The Grounds of Thought) offered cable cars above 
the forest, hummingbird feeders and its very own Juan Valdez Café.
Cerca, El Recinto del Pensamiento ofrece un teleférico que viaja sobre el bosque, cebaderos de colibríes y su propio Café Juan Valdez.
We continued our journey toward Pereira and stayed at The Secret
Garden Hostel, located on the edge of a mountain overlooking the Chinchina River.
Continuamos el viaje hacia Pereira y visitamos el Hostel The Secret Garden, ubicado en el filo de una montaña con vistas del río Chinchiná.
We visited hot springs in San Vicente, the House of Culture (and of course, the street food) in Marsella and then started our journey back north to Medellín. 
Visitamos los termales de San Vicente, la Casa de la Cultura (y claro, la comida callejera) de Marsella y después comenzamos nuestro regreso hacia el norte y a Medellín.
We drove on the winding roads for hours, stopping to buy goat’s cheese and to see the Cauca River from Pipinta.
Seguimos las curvas de la carretera por horas, parando a comprar queso de cabra y a ver el río Cauca desde Pipintá.
